MAYOR RIBO PROCLAIMS THE CALL TO FALLAS "CRIDA"

Juan Ribo, Mayor of Valencia City (above left), proclaimed the call or "Crida" to Valencian citizens and visitors in Valencia, to attend the 2016 Fallas Fiestas that end in Valencia every year on the night of the 19th of March when over 300 gigantic bonfires or "FALLAS" are burned.

The Fallas Fiesta commemorates the Medieval tradition when members of the Carpenter's Guild of Valencia cleaned out their carpenter shops and burned all the wood-shavings and bits and pieces of wood left over from the winter work, on the 19th March, feast of Saint Joseph, Patron Saint of Carpenters.
